Happy Healthy Raw Vegan Halloween!
Yes, I have a ball dressing up in raw vegan-inspired costumes every year! This year I decided to be a raw vegan version of Paul Stanley’s “Starchild” from the rock and roll band, KISS. (How did I do?) All in good fun. I’ll do whatever it takes to help bring awareness to how amazing a raw food diet can transform one’s life. Not saying it will transform you into Paul Stanley. But it can help you drop excess weight, reduce bloating, and generally make you look and feel rock-star great!
RAW-k and roll all night, and eat fruit every day! (Get it?)
No, fruit does not make you fat. Fruit supplies our bodies with energy, plant-based nutrients, fiber, and hydration from the water-rich varieties.
Healthy Holidays, finally!
Before I started a raw vegan diet, Halloween used to mark the beginning of the Weight Gain Season. Can you relate at all? It starts with some innocent snacking on your kids’ Halloween candy and leaves you swearing things will be different come January 1st.
A Snickers bar for breakfast. Maybe a few Hershey’s Hugs while you’re cooking dinner. And endless obligatory cookies, cakes, pies, and more unhealthy junk in between. Ugh! The holidays were supposed to be a FUN time, and somewhere along the line we all got brainwashed into thinking that eating garbage equates to having fun. Huh? Well, it’s time to reclaim and redefine the holiday experience.
The holidays are about doing fun things, spending time with loved ones, and generally enjoying a robust life. Pummeling your body with refined sugar, flour, butter, eggs, etc has absolutely nothing to do with any of that. Stop buying into what all the big corporations want you to swallow: Their unhealthy products. Stop handing over your hard-earned dollars in exchange for obesity, heart disease, premature aging, depression, migraines, strokes, diabetes, and more devastating ailments.
Take back your health.
Let’s begin the change with Halloween! In case you missed it, be sure to try my Raw Vegan Pumpkin Spice Milkshake recipe here.
Making raw foods FUN.
Start by offering to bring a dish to any social gathering. This way, you will always have something on hand to eat that fits with your health goals. Here’s a spooktacular way of presenting a simple guacamole dip with chopped veggie crudites of your choice, like peppers, zucchini discs, carrot and celery sticks, and cauliflower florets. Use your imagination and inspire everyone around you with a message of delicious, healthy, plant-based food choices.
Or you can make this yummy BooBerry Froyo using my favorite raw vegan protein from Sunwarrior. You can get the recipe here where I proudly contribute to the Sunwarrior Health Hub and am also a Sunwarrior influencer.
If you want a raw vegan protein that is not only delicious but also easy to digest and has a great amino acid profile, in my opinion Sunwarrior is the best choice out there. Great company, great product. You can check out more of my posts including raw food recipes on the Sunwarrior Health Hub here. I am also a Sunwarrior affiliate and you can purchase their product via my link if you want to! Any commissions I make go right back into the cost of running my website, so please know that I thank you and appreciate you helping me to support you. Everyone wins.
These are so fun for kids to decorate! Don’t they look spooked? I think they just saw the ingredient list on most Halloween candies. Yikes!
It’s also the season of fresh crunchy apples. Be sure to try my Quick and Easy Raw Vegan Chocolate Candy Apple Dip recipe in this video posted below, but BEWARE, you won’t be able to stop eating it! I made it using my Blendtec blender fitted with their super cool Twister Jar, as seen at work in the video. The twister jar makes incredible nut butters and dips! Again, full disclosure that product links in my post are affiliate links. Clicking through them and making a purchase might cause me to earn a commission. I link to products I use and like personally, and as such I try to give you the most useful information possible to help you succeed on raw foods.
Lastly, because it’s the season of Pumpkin Spice Everything, I have to make sure you saw these incredible Chocolate Pumpkin Cannoli. They’ve been pretty popular with rave reviews. I’m not going to give you a raw food recipe unless it’s capable of knocking your socks off. So enjoy!
